EXPOSICIÓN ARTUR RAMON ART. MESTRE CABESTANY – ESPURNES DE MARBRE
171_Mestre Cabestany
Eight delicate and marvellous marble fragments of different sizes -four suspended and four resting on marble gravestones-, an open hemispherical vault, a closed hemispherical vault, Mestre Cabestany’s geography maps, Sant Pere de Rodas nave’s geometry in its real size, the veiled surface of the reconstructed portal and the depth of the three naves of the church are the components of the exhibition “MESTRE CABESTANY: ESPURNES de MARBRE” (MESTRE CABESTANY: SPURNES de MARBRE).
The irreparable dispersion of the fragments chiselled by Mestre Cabestany and extracted by blows of abandonment and plundering is presented over the transcription of unique and complete entities: the space of the Church of Sant Pere, the geometry of the architecture of Sant Pere, a hypothetical portal canvas, the quasi-celestial spheres and the maps of the geography of Mestre Cabestany’s journeys through the Gulf of Leon territories, aware Medieval Earth was then an flat disc of unknownable.
The gathering of fragments and complete entities make the exhibition and build a series of edges that stalk at rememberance and memory, projections, sequences of intelligibility, metaphors and impressions that Mestre Cabestany’s work unfolds today. Although quantum models can operate along the two time directions -forwards and backwards- entropy is not reversible. What has fallen apart does not return to its equilibrium position of previous existence. According to Stephen Hawkins “it is very likely that there is a Chronology Protection Agency that makes the world safe for historians”. This montage acknowledges it.
Is not an immersive or virtual “experience”. Here nothing is virtual, everything is tangible. The knowledge spark that each of us will ensemble as we enter and leave the exhibition at the Galeria Artur Ramon Art in Barcelona is the fiction we will invent today.
